Dear Members and Friends,

This month we will be holding our third dinner of the year. The Swedish Meat-ball Dinner was the first dinner held when I became your pastor. Since then we have added the German Style Pork Roast Dinner and Fiesta Night. We also are the only church that still runs a food booth at the Branford Festival on Father’s Day Weekend (3

We hold all of these many fundraising activities not only because they are fun and help build a sense of community, but also because we have a financial need to meet. When the interim budget was adopted last October, one of the impor-tant items was to look for ways to rent our facilities, perhaps to another church, to increase our income. We have listed the church as available for rent on the real estate multiple listing service. While this would give us much needed in-come, it is not something that could be accomplished overnight.

Several months ago, Mary Hally, owner of "The Red Door" consignment store in Branford, approached me and two other churches in town about donating her business to the churches so they could staff the store with volunteers and keep the profits. If the store were staffed with volunteers it would yield about $15,000.00 in profits per year. We could also increase our income by having members drop off items and consign them to the church the way a thrift store functions. Currently the store is open about 30 hours per week. Certainly this would be a major undertaking, but if we were able to pull this off, it would sup-ply us with the income that we would get by renting out our church.

So I want to put this project out to you. Is this something that interests you? Would you like to be able to support your church to a great amount but can’t afford to increase your pledge? Would you instead be willing to commit a few hours each week to working in the store? Many congregations operate consign-ment/thrift stores in order to raise money. I think this is very possible for Tabor to accomplish as well. If only 10 members were willing to give a half day each week, we could easily raise over $15,000. Think about it….pray about it….and if you would like more information…..please speak with me about it. rd weekend in June). The annual church fair and TCCP Fun Fair morphed together many years ago to become TaborFest.

Peace, Pastor Myers
